WHY WE GATHER ON SUNDAYS
We gather together as a church on Sundays for worship, teaching, fellowship, and communion.
We do this because of what we see in the early church, first expressed in Acts 2:42-47:
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teachingx and to fellowship, to the breaking of bready and to prayer.z 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.a 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common.b 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.c 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.d They broke breade in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.f And the Lord added to their numberg daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:42-47 NIV
WHAT TO EXPECT
When you enter the lobby, you will find friendly people happy to meet you and welcome you to our church. Grab a cup of coffee, maybe a welcome packet, and if you have small children (up to 2nd grade) you can check them into PAX Kids (they’ll start off in the service with you until after announcements).
We usually start with a bit of worship. We don’t have a big concert-style, but it is fairly contemporary, acoustic guitar and vocals.
We will have a few moments for announcements and greeting, then we pray for the kids and dismiss them to PAX Kids.
We will usually continue in prayer and worship for another couple of songs, then conclude that time as we head into the sermon.
The sermon is verse-by-verse, with relevant background information and applicable takeaways to help you live and share the gospel of peace.
We conclude every message with a time of reflection, then we take communion together. Communion is open to all believers in Christ, and we celebrate this every week.
We will finish our service with worship and prayer as we prepare to go out into the community and live according to God’s word and share His gospel.
